Crossing America Celebrates Holiday in the PARKS- December 12
More than 15,000 students joined their ranger friends from across the country as we explored 19 national park sites, discovering how people, wildlife, and landscapes adapt to winter. Together, students investigated how snow, ice, and shorter days shape life in different parks—from snow-covered mountains to windswept coastal shores. Along the way, they learned about winter traditions, storytelling, survival skills, and seasonal celebrations deeply connected to the land. Each conversation invited students to think about what it truly means to explore, respect, and protect these special places during the coldest season of the year. Engineering Design Challenge Students took on the role of park designers, creating accessible and sustainable park features that make national park sites more welcoming for all visitors. Their designs highlighted stewardship in action—showing how caring for both the land and people strengthens accessibility, inclusion, and long-term protection of our parks. |
